Apple in recently announced to extend the free repair timeframe of iPad Smart Keyboard to three years, as the Smart Keyboards may get some “functional issues” during use.
What are “functional issues” of the Smart Keyboard
Typically, there is one-year warranty for Apple’s Smart Keyboard iPad accessory, but now, because of the potential problems inside the Keyboard, such as Smart Connector does not work, unresponsive keys, or contains keys sticking and repeating, they determined to make the free repair up to three years, which can be found from an internal memo distributed to Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers.

Both 12.9- and 9.7-inch versions of iPad get the Smart Keyboard, if you are unfortunately affected by the “functional issues” and need a tech support, you can call to Apple Store, or contact Apple support by phone, email, or online chat. And Apple says that hey will be responsible for repairing any any qualifying Smart Keyboard for free within three years from the date people purchased it.
