German Bundeskartellamt Limits Facebook’s Data Collection

Germany’s German Federal Antimonopoly Service (Bundeskartellamt) made a final ruling in Thursday on its three-year investigation, saying Facebook had abused its market dominance in collecting, merging and using user data. The agency said many users were unaware that Facebook had collected “almost unlimited” amounts of data from third-party channels, including Facebook’s Instagram and WhatsApp, and then linked the data to users ‘ Facebook accounts.
