As noted by Gizmodo, these apps withdrawn by Google from its Play Store after the reputable security researchers found that they would secretly hijack Android devices to provide traffic for large-scale distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, although they seem like just offer video players, ringtones and storage manager services for their users.

Security researchers just find the botnet (also called WireX) behind the ploy, from the content delivery network Akamai when one of the clients (a multinational hospitality company) was attacked in this month.

Based on this issue, a Google spokesperson said in a statement “We identified approximately 300 apps associated with the issue, blocked them from the Play Store, and we’re in the process of removing them from all affected devices.” Thanks
